The efficacy of pre-emptive tramadol in orthopaedic day-surgery

چکیده
It has been suggested that there may be some advantage in pre-emptive administration of analgesics, which may be of some relevance in day-surgery. Post-operative pain control is often difficult due to the reluctance to use potent analgesics, whose side effects include nausea and vomiting, which are an important cause of delayed discharge. In order to test the potential beneficial effects of pre-emptive analgesia, 110 day-surgery patients were randomly allocated to receive either pre-emptive tramadol or a placebo pre-operatively. Per and postoperative complications were recorded following administration of a standard anaesthetic, comprising intravenous induction with propofol and maintenance with isoflurane. Post operative analgesia and anti-emetics were administered as required. Patients who received tramadol had a slightly lower incidence of postoperative pain, but at the expense of increased nausea; all differences were not significant. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. متن کاملPre-Emptive Tramadol Could Reduce Pain after Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy
PURPOSE Optimal analgesia in ambulatory urology patients still remains a challenge. The aim of this study was to examine if the pre-emptive use of intravenous tramadol can reduce pain after ureteroscopic lithotripsy in patients diagnosed with unilateral ureteral stones. MATERIALS AND METHODS This prospective pilot cohort study included 74 patients diagnosed with unilateral ureteral stones who...
متن کاملClinical evaluation of pre-emptive use of oral Amantadin on intraoperative pain during ovariohysterectomy in NZ White Rabbit
Background When painful stimulations are constantly perceived by the pain sensation system, pain management becomes more difficult and pain will turn from acute to chronic. Therefore, prevention and management of acute pain will ultimately reduce both acute and chronic pain in patients and the development of appropriate analgesia during surgery and subsequent pain control can be important in ...

Objective: The purpose of the present study was to determine the pre-emptive analgesic effects of Tramadol and Lornoxicam. Materials and Methods: Fifty women of ASA (American society of anaesthesiologists) class I and II, who were undergoing gynaecological surgeries under Regional subarachinoid block anaesthesia, were assigned in a randomized manner into two groups. متن کاملThe effect of pre-emptive analgesia on the level of postoperative pain in women undergoing surgery for breast neoplasm
AIM OF THE STUDY Dynamic development of research on pain has resulted in the formulation of the concept of pre-emptive analgesia, which involves administration of analgesics before the first pain-producing stimulus appears. It is meant to prevent increased sensitivity to pain in the postoperative period. The aim of this study was to assess the possibilities of modifying the intensity of postope...
